My friends, we live in interesting times. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been elected the governor of California. 20+ million lives now rest in the hands of the Terminator.
A note to all our readers who live in CA: HBK, Catfish, if you guys need help--talking about this, sweaty manhugs, etc., I'll be there. Well, not physically. But you get the idea.

I think this proves that we the people need to actually think about politics be for voting or thinking about voting.

I think this proves that we the people need to actually think about politics be for voting or thinking about voting. True. It's probably the saddest single sign of the times that I've seen in a long time. I mean, looking at the people in the ballot (aside from the actual politicians, you had Arnold, a porn star, a pornographer and Gary Coleman), this was pretty much done by the media for the media, without much real thought as to whether the candidates running were what the people really needed. Anyway, I certainly hope the people who voted for Arnold are happy with their decision... for real this time. All things considered, I wish the people of California the best of luck... chances are they're gonna need it.

I don't know, this is one of those times when you need to wait and see...
Jesse Ventura was elected in Minnesota, and that state's still standing.
Plus, California had elected an actor to the gubernatorial position before (Ronald Reagan), and things didn't turn out too badly...
(Eh, who cares? California- if you thought Davis was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet...)

Hey guys, quick intro for those who don't know me. I'm Nick LaBruzzo, a mod over at the new WoW order--I'll mainly be keeping an eye on this news folder, but you may see me in other places too. Friends call me Bruiser--so call me Bruiser.
As for the Ah-nold, it was a cry of defiance by the people of California. I think they knew exactly what they were doing, but they felt so desperate for leadership, that they made the strongest, most bold statement they could. And I think they succeeded. As for Ah-nold doing well, who knows? He hasn't told anyone where he stands on most major issues, including the Republican Party. Things like "I am for education", and "I will stop crime" don't tell us much. ...'Cuz there's so many guys on the platform of 'Fuck the kids and release the criminals'. Only time will tell here.

Actually, he has already said a lot. First off, he is going to strike down the tripling of the car tax. He has also said that he will not be creating new taxes, and will instead audit the budget and eliminate a lot of the wasteful spending going on. He will also force the Indian casinos to finally pay their fair share.
As far as social issues go, he is pro-choice, pro-gun control, and pro-environment. He is basically a fiscal conservative, and socially moderate.
I voted for Arnold. He has proven (at the debate) that he actually does have a grasp on what he has to do as governor, and that he is not just another dumb actor. Sure, he doesn't have all the details (McClintock was the winner when it came to that) but he has surrounded himself with the right people when it comes down to that.
Besides, Arnold is going to be a lot better than Davis was, or than BustaMEChA would be. Even if he just sits at his desk and vetoes whatever the kooks in the legislature throw at him, he's fine in my book.
I talk about it more on my website, which is linked in my sig.

I'm rather pissed right now... I learned that Schwartzenegger is considering a plan that would effectively triple the tuition at CA's community colleges... wasn't one of his campaign promises to end the cuts on education?

The promise apparently only applied to K-12 education.
I already figured something like that was coming, though. There's definately gonna be cuts coming, including cuts in the things I care about. I already knew that going in, but I still voted for Arnold anyway. The reason these cuts are necessary is because of the humongous deficit we are in, and the fault for that lies squarely in the hands of former governor Gumby and the hippie legislature.
