I know not many people are fond of the whole Dragonball saga, but am I the only one who thinks the first series(Dragonball) was the best one? I mean, I could watch any episode of DB any time it comes on, but it has to be a special episode of DBZ for me to see it again, considering I've seen it all.
Thoughts?

I haven't seen Dragonball, but I don't think I could objectively watch it knowing that it would later spawn the crapfest known as DBZ.

I actually prefer Dragon Ball to DBZ and GT myself as well; IMHO, DBZ's storyline is much more plodding than the original Dragon Ball.

Original Dragonball was pretty good, because for all the plot exposition, it was actually pretty story-driven and fairly well-paced. Also, there was always someone stronger than Goku (Jackie Chun/Roshi, Tenshinhan, etc.) He didn't pull some BS where he spontaneously became more powerful after getting constipated.
Also, DB was based on Journey to the West, a Chinese folktale. DBZ was based on an odd blend of Superman and Mein Kampf. (I mean, come on... blonde-haired, blue-eyed superwarriors?)

One thing I don't like about DBZ is how the villains from the beginnng of the show to the end show up in order of weakest to strongest (well the major villains). It's bullshit that, that would happen. Plus after awhile Goku just gets too strong sort of like old school Superman that couldn't be beaten and had too many damn super powers.

For the record, the super-saiyans had blonde hair and green eyes. Oh yeah, also, I think King Piccolo/Piccolo Daimao from DB was an even bigger badass than any DBZ villain. Does anyone agree?
